New Song started in 1997 in Spanaway, a suburb of Tacoma. New Song originally began as the college ministry of Clover Creek Bible Fellowship, which reached out to the specific needs of that generation. As the ministry at a local college began to explode with a great move of salvation, there came a need for a church home to minister to those who were coming to Christ. Around the year 2000, God invaded New Song and Clover, bringing a greater understanding of the ministry of Jesus (as described in Luke 4:18,19) and the need for intimacy with Christ.
As the Lord came in His power, a passion began to grow in the young people to see the ministry of Jesus reach out into Tacoma, the nation, and to international locations. The young congregation began to ask some tough questions like, "Why aren't we like the church of Acts?" Some of the attributes of the church found in Acts include:
Realizing they were far from these attributes, 100’s of people joined together in prayer to ask God to once again restore the church to its original design. This is our same prayer today! We moved to downtown Tacoma in 2003, and have an ever-growing passion for Christ to be glorified, the gospel to be preached, and for each person to be loved with the tenderness of Christ.
A fire began to grow in that small group of students, and is still burning, just in a new location with new friends!
